GRAYSHOTT businesses already fed up with months of traffic diversions couldn't believe their eyes and ears when the village centre pavement was dug up.

It came after months of roadworks to alter the layout of local routes redesigned after the Hindhead Tunnel opening.

The digging was attributed to new utilities being installed.
