ALTON Assembly Rooms turned back the clock to the 1940s and 1950s to stage another of its popular vintage and retro events.
It featured a fantastic array of items from both eras, including housewares, Tuppaware, toys, comics, dresses and clothing, bags and purses, accessorises, hats, small items of furniture, trinket boxes, bunting, and gift ideas.
One of the highlights was the wonderful Paula Haywood, who is an expert in vintage hair and make-up, and a beautiful example of her art. Many ladies took the opportunity to get the vintage hair look to go with the wonderful vintage dress they had bought from Frocks In Swing Time.
Mustang Sally was also on hand selling old, vintage and retro items that had been upcycled in to delightful housewares that were a must for many of the customers who visited.
Lisa Benson, from Ceroc Plus, not only gave demonstrations of vintage and modern jive dance but also held free sample sessions to help people learn a few new moves in readiness for the Christmas party season.
There was so much to see, buy and do that may people took advantage of the pop-up vintage tea room to take a break and have a cup of tea and sample homemade cake before returning to the packed hall.
Assembly Rooms manager Jason Passingham said: “We are delighted at how the day has gone, the building really had a buzz about it. We had a nice constant footfall, which helps, but also may customers taking advantage of so many wonderful items being under one roof.
“We are already getting enquires about our next fair, which should be sometime in March, so we would advise that anyone who may be interested in attending should e-mail us their interest at [email protected] so that we can send them out a booking form once the date has been confirmed.”
