PETERSFIELD Citizens' Advice Bureau (CAB) bosses are appealing for more help with rules which are pushing people "already on the breadline into debt and threatened homelessness".

The revelations followed the annual meeting of East Hampshire Citizens' Advice Bureau in Alton, at which East Hampshire MP?Damian Hinds heard that such things as benefit changes and pay-day lending were having a "significant effect on the budget of many local people".

In the south-east region alone, the CAB says it has seen a four-fold increase in the number of cases where pay-day loans have contributed to the mounting problem of household debt.

Impacting on those worst affected, access to government services delivered only via the internet, benefit changes and pay-day lending topped a list of the key issues thrashed out at the meeeting.

Mr Hinds discussed with advisers, trustees and guests the impact of the most significant issues affecting our community today.
