CITIZENS Advice Waverley held a charity golf day at Farnham Golf Club raising more than £9,000 towards its vital services.

An early start in rather wet and difficult conditions did not deter the 72 golfers from their games. A warm welcome into the club house followed by a fine lunch and an auction were enjoyed by all.

Damon Hill, former world Formula 1 champion, was guest of honour and speaker.

The winning team, The Hornets, comprised Bob Dawkins, Peter Elliott, Damon Hill and David Middleton.

Barbara Dawkins, event organiser and volunteer adviser at Citizens Advice Waverley’s Farnham branch, said: “We’d like to express our thanks to the Farnham Golf Club for hosting this event and providing for us so well for a third time.

“We’d also like to thank our many supporters, especially those who donated very generous auction lots such as holiday homes, works of art, work experience in London and tickets to sporting events.”

Sponsorship money was also raised from businesses including Specsavers Farnham, CCA Galleries, Blue Dot Display, Guildford Foot Clinic, On Track Recruitment, Stricklands Dental Fitness Centre, The General Wine Company, DSA Golf, Waitrose Farnham, Huntington House, Wellbeing Space and more.
