TWO sisters and their mum have transformed a former boutique in Liphook Square into a trendy cafe and gift shop.
Lucy and Sarah Hannah gave their initials to the new L&S Gift and Coffee House, while mum Karen, one of the managers of the Liphook Day Centre, likes to be a silent partner.
Sarah already runs the successful Art & Framing shop on Headley Road and helped sister Lucy to set up their new joint venture, which opened officially on Juen 11.
Lucy said: “I have always wanted to run a gift shop and stock items you can’t get anywhere else. Customers can buy anything here from under £1 to £50, as well as many occasion and seasonal cards.
“We will make sure we have an extensive selection of cards soon, which are not available anywhere else in the area.
“It has been very busy since we opened up and we have had some positive comments from our customers, who all seem to like our open-air patio area in front of the cafe overlooking the square.”
Lucy added: “We serve organic tea and organic South American coffee, as well as a selection of cakes, which can be taken out or eaten on the premises. Over the next few weeks, we are hoping to include savoury pasties, smoothies and a range of gluten-free cakes and syrups for coffee, and during the winter months we will also be serving hot chocolate with marshmallows.”
The sisters took over the lease for the shop in April and have been renovating the premises to create a light, airy and modern feel by opening up passage ways and adding wooden floors and comfortable tables and chairs.
Opening times are Monday to Friday 9am-4.30pm, Saturday 9am-4pm and Sunday 9.30am-1pm.
