JIGSAW Trust’s cafe at Dunsfold Park enjoyed an extra helping of cash, thanks to the generosity of two local businesses.
The charity to support those with autism spectrum disorders runs Jigsaw School for children aged four to 19 and JigsawPlus for adults aged over 18. Its Cafe On The Park was set up as a work experience setting for pupils and clients to learn new skills within a vocational environment.
The cafe, which opened in 2013, caters for businesses at Dunsfold Park, providing a selection of hot and cold food and a Costa Coffee ‘Proud to Serve’ franchise. It is staffed by catering professionals with selected tasks being undertaken by Jigsaw work experience students.
Brymor Construction and Comley Group, two companies currently working on the business park whose staff are regular visitors to the cafe, donated £1,00 to be used to install additional kitchen equipment.
Jigsaw Trust chief executive officer Kate Grant said: “As a social enterprise, the cafe provides a commercial environment for our clients and older pupils to learn and develop important life skills. We are incredibly grateful to Brymor Construction and Comley Group and for their very generous support. It will mean that more of our children and young adults will be able to access work experience opportunities thanks to the additional equipment available for them to use.”
