WEYFORD Junior School pupils – along with parents and staff – managed to raise £163 for Children in Need last Friday.

The school's annual fundraising efforts see competition between the upper school (years five and six) and lower school (years three and four) children, seeing who can make the most money out of selling homemade cakes.

This year, it was the upper-school pupils who took the crown, generating the most funds for the Children in Need cause.

Administrative officer Lesley Steele said the sales see lots of impressive cakes donated, with two of the largest cakes this year sold in a raffle to further boost charity money.

Children themselves not only enjoy the novelty of the day, but are able to buy cakes at breaktime. This year Children In Need raised a record £32.6m nationwide.
