THE ALTON Society is urging others to join it in rallying to the call "to enter into a new 'Battle of Britain' " led by the Council for the Protection of Rural England (CPRE) in a determined bid to combat the proposed "browning" of the south-east.
The appeal follows a well attended AGM which included a potentially provocative address by Ted Grant, director of the Hampshire branch of the CPRE on "The Browning of Hampshire - Can it be prevented?" Members will be attending a CPRE meeting on the subject, to be held in Winchester on Thursday December 2.
