TWO vacancies have arisen for the Hindhead ward on 18-strong Haslemere Town Council, following the death last month of former town mayor and long serving councillor Michael Dover, and the decision of fellow ward member Alex Ford to resign on August 7.

If a request is made in writing to Waverley Borough Council Returning Officer, by 10 electors for the town ward, by Tuesday, September 4, an election will be held to fill the vacancies.

Otherwise, the two vacancies will be filled by co-option. Any vote will take place not later than Tuesday, November 6. The three other councillors for Hindhead are Jean Arrick, Malcolm Carter and Brigitte Hewett.
