A YOUNG chorister sensation is calling on children across the area to get involved in an upcoming charity single.

BBC Radio 2 Young chorister of the Year finalist Cai Thomas, aged 13, has launched a crowdfunding campaign alongside choristers of St Thomas-on-the-Bourne to record a song.

The group will record Wherever You Are by renowned Welsh composer Paul Mealor – who composed music for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding in 2011 – to raise funds for brain tumour charity, Robbie’s Rehab.

Cai has promised to donate royalties from the purchase and download of the single to the charity, set up by Robbie Keville.

A pupil at Cai’s previous school, Edgeborough, Cai hopes to use this single to give something back to the community after his recent success.

The King Edwards, Witley student previously recorded his debut album Seren, and was joined by the church choir, and it was nominated as album of the week on stations Classic FM and Scala Radio.

Robbie set up the charity after his mother died of breast cancer.

Five years later, aged ten, Robbie died of a malignant brain tumour. The charity helps provide specialist medical professionals to help children with brain tumours and is run out of Southampton Hospital.

Cai said: “Donating the royalties to Robbie’s Rehab was an obvious choice. Robbie went to my school and also loved music.

“In a small way I can now help Robbie, who was never able to fulfil his talents, keep giving to kids who still have the opportunity to fulfil their own.

“I have loved recording over the past year and feel very lucky to have had so many new and fun experiences.

“But I really miss singing with my choir as this is what I enjoy the most, so do please come and join me and my fellow choristers on this recording!”
