RESIDENTS in the GU35 area have been left blind as a local news station seems to have fallen off the sky digibox with no explanation of where it has gone or when it will return.
Instead, residents can now learn about football matches in Kent and the latest missing person in Margate on Meridian South East.
Bob Mallinson, from Bordon, said: "I'm very unhappy about it.
"Although Meridian South is on terrestrial, it's not on sky, and the news is completely irrelevant.
"Meridian had an agreement that if a child went missing, there would be an immediate alert, but we won't know anything round here. It came about after the Sarah Payne murder.
"I always watch Meridian South, but the other day, I put it on and thought 'what the hell is this'?
"I don't want the news from Kent. That's of no interest to me at all."
Peter Gould, from Whitehill said: "There's been nothing about the change.
"We have no interest in Margate. It's ridiculous, you get Crawley, but there is no relation to this area and you miss the replays of Portsmouth.
"There might be something important, or an emergency telling you what to do, and you'd miss it."
Shirley Hall from Bordon is also missing Meridian South. She said: "We live in the area and we should know what's going on, with sportsespecially. I don't think there was any notice about it."
Meridian has three main news stations: Meridian South, Meridian South East, and Meridian West. Until recently only Meridian South and Meridian South East were available on sky. The problem has arisen as Meridian West has been made available on sky.
A spokesman for Meridian said: "The analogue signal hasn't changed.
"A lot of people changed to sky because the analogue wasn't a good signal.
"We are aware of the problem and are talking to sky about it.
"It's an ongoing problem at the moment and we don't know when it will be sorted out."
