SPORTS injury experts in Hartley Wintney have teamed up with the charity Melanoma UK to offer support from their clinic.
The Body Reset Clinic got in contact with Melanoma UK after learning about the Irene Parker Skin Awareness Campaign. One of the clinic’s members set up the campaign to raise awareness of the early signs of skin cancer among fitness instructors, beauty therapists and hairdressers.
It’s an issue Vicki Styles, who owns the business, holds very close to her heart. She was diagnosed with skin cancer when she set up the venture in 2014.
The new partnership with Melanoma UK was launched at a special event on Tuesday. Visitors were given vital information about skin cancer, including how to spot the early signs on their own body, or on someone else. Early diagnosis is vital to successful treatment.
Also in attendance at the launch night was Claire Dale, who is leading the campaign on behalf of Melanoma UK. She has already spread the word among clinics in the North West, and is now trying to replicate that success in the South.
She joined the charity in 2015 after the death of her mother Irene. Devastated by the loss, Claire began to ponder how she could help stop other families suffering from the same experience.
Her Eureka moment came when she realised that, although her mum regularly consulted fitness instructors, message therapists and beauticians, none of them noticed or mentioned the importance of skin checking.
Now Claire has launched the Irene Parker Skin Awareness Message with the support of Melanoma UK. She is building on her great start by campaigning to raise awareness of the problem in the area where she lives.
