Borough and town councillors gathered to celebrate completion of Waverley’s major £150,000 upgrade of Haslemere High Street car park, on Monday.

Over the past four weeks the car park has undergone a complete make-over and now benefits from a new sub base, high-quality resurfacing and structural improvements to the drainage system to reduce flooding.

It has also been re-lined to provide an enhanced layout with an additional disabled bay, bringing the total number of spaces to 155, including eight disabled spaces and two motorcycle bay areas.

Jim Edwards, Waverley’s portfolio holder for environmental services, said: “I’m delighted to say this work this been a huge success and that it was completed on schedule.

“Haslemere is such a beautiful town with brilliant shops and amenities, so it’s only right to have a top class car park for residents to use when they visit.

“As a result of this work the council will also save a significant amount in maintenance costs which will be reinvested into other facilities and improvements to benefit residents in the borough.”
