EVERYTHING could be coming up roses, or rather colourful shrubs, for the culprit who took advantage of the new planting scheme in Chestnut Avenue in Haslemere.
No sooner had the landscape gardeners planted out the new borders of the car park, than an eagle-eyed thief went along sometime between Wednesday and Friday of last week and lifted 16 of the assorted specimens, valued at around £50.
Police would very much like to talk to anyone who may have seen the green-fingered thief, believed to be a local man with a wheelbarrow who lives within walking distance of the car park.
Among the varieties stolen were four Spirea Gold Flame, eight Choisia Sun Dance, one Choisia Sonata, one Cornus Mid-winter Fire and two berbers.
Anyone with any information should contact Haslemere Police on 01252 716262.
