FARNHAM Cards for Good Causes is back with this year’s charity Christmas shop at Farnham Maltings.
The Farnham branch of Cards for Good Causes is staffed by volunteers and sells cards from 39 national and local charities, as well as Christmas gift ideas, advent calendars, wrapping paper, labels and ribbons.
One of the local charities is The Fountain Centre, which raises money for cancer patients, their families and carers. It is located in the St Luke’s Cancer Unit at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford, and offers advice, counselling and a huge range of complementary therapies in a calming and relaxed atmosphere.
In the past five years, charities have received more than £20 million from Cards for Good Causes, representing at least 70p in every pound, out of which charities had to pay for the production and distribution of their Christmas cards and any VAT.
Melanie Butlin, in her 10th year of managing the Farnham shop, said: “Our seasonal shop is a great way to prepare for Christmas, while at the same time providing an important source of funding for charities.’”
The shop is open from 10am to 4.30pm, Monday to Saturday, until Thursday December 17.
