RESIDENTS and staff at the Sanctuary Care Ashley House Residential Care Home, in Bordon, put on their best vintage outfits for the premiere of their own film production last Thursday.

Showcasing their acting and singing credentials in front of friends and family, the team and residents at the care home, in Forest Road, turned back the clock to the 1940s to enjoy the film debut of their rendition of the Robert Wise classic The Sound of Music.

In the summer the home organised the film shoot as part of the two-year national arts programme Shine!

Making sure they looked the part, residents were again dressed in 1940s costume for the screening. Resident John Crumlish, 84, who was dressed as von Trapp, said: “It was great being a film star for the night, we all had a wonderful evening.”

The Sanctuary Care home’s manager Margaret Powell added “The Shine! project was a real success so it was important that we celebrated the residents’ and the team’s hard work and what better way to do so than with a 1940s cinema premiere night?”
