UNCERTAINTY still surrounds the future of a much-loved care home in Farnham this week.

Cobgates, on Falkner Road, was built in the 1970s and is one of just six remaining council-run care homes in Surrey.

However, a Surrey County Council review has recommended closing all six homes, which it says are failing to meet modern standards.

The council has opened a consultation into the future of the homes, and held a meeting at the Farnham Maltings on November 20 for those directly affected.

In response, Cobgates residents, their relatives and local representatives have leapt the defence of the beleaguered home.
