SHE is only five years old but Emily White, a pupil at Butts Primary School in Alton, wanted to raise cash to help those who looked after two of her terminally ill relatives.
Her great-grandfather, Max Rietzler, and her aunt, Amanda, were cared for by Oakhaven Hospice in Lymington after being diagnosed with cancer. Mr Rietzler was well known as landlord who ran pubs in Alton.
So Emily sat patiently while stylist Samantha Rollings cut off 32cm of her hair, and as well as raising money for Oakhaven, through sponsorship, the hair has been given to the Little Princess Trust, which makes wigs for children who have lost their hair as a result of cancer treatment. Samantha also donated her fee to the hospice.
Emily raised more than £300 and her mother, Samantha White, told The Herald: “I am incredibly proud of what my daughter has achieved.”
Emily’s family have set up a Justgiving page at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/emily-white2012
