A PETERSFIELD midwife whose care, support and professionalism "made a huge impact" on the life of a disabled mum has won a prestigious award.

Claire Cardu, from Winchester Road, Stroud, was presented with the best healthcare professional award, sponsored by the national Mother and Baby magazine at a glittering ceremony in London last week.

Presented by TV personality Saira Khan, Claire travelled to the London Hilton Hotel for the awards ceremony with Sophia Mason, the mum who had nominated her, and her now seven-month-old son George.
