CHRISTMAS may be just around the corner, but it is still open season for heartless thieves who last Friday not only stole a motorist's Land Rover the minute his back was turned but made off with his beloved family dog too.

Luckily for Philip Hall, the manager of Hillier Nurseries on Andlers Ash Road in Liss, a kind Petersfield woman spotted the dog 48 hours later on the B3006 Alton to Selborne road and he was reunited with his eight-year-old black labrador Louie.
