LIPHOOK Bowls Club began their outdoor playing season with a cheque presentation to the Carnival committee, after raising £221.30 over the last year for the annual event.
Club secretary Lesley Meredith told The Herald: “We wanted to support this village tradition and raised the majority of the money from donations at the start of our friendly fixtures played at home.”
Newly-appointed Carnival chairman Sally Anne Cameron said: “Thanks to all bowls club members for their generous donation.
“We plan to kick-off this year’s carnival fundraising on Saturday, July 7, with a family fun day at the Church Centre, which will include many activities and an opportunity for anyone interested in joining the procession to come along and get some help and advice.
“Our popular quiz is scheduled for September, which includes a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses and a super prize for the winning team, as well as our annual autumn Carnival Walk,” Sally added.
The 2018 Liphook Carnival takes place on Saturday, October 27, and the committee hopes to attract even more floats and participants this year.
