IT WAS good news all round when Liphook Carnival and Bonfire Committee held their annual meeting at the Peak Centre.
Chairman Sally Cameron confirmed the committee now had 20 volunteer members and that the event had seen a big increase in floats and participants last year - and that it had raised £3,056 on the night.
She said: "Plans for this year include a new float for the Carnival Queen, a family fun day in the summer - which will now include the children’s fancy dress normally held on Carnival day - as well as our annual quiz night and sponsored walk."
The Barry Pope shield was presented to Liphook Fire Service for 19 years of support.
Beneficiaries from the funds raised included Little Cherubs Nursery, Liphook Day Centre, Community Laundry, Royal British Legion, Liphook Junior School, MAD Theatre Company, Hampshire Search and Rescue, Liphook Fire Service, Over-60s’ Club, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, Methodist Church, Liphook District Guides and First Scout Group, Mum and Me Netball and Liphook United FC.
