VOLUNTEERS are needed to help with Haslemere’s annual Christmas carols event which takes place on Lion Green tomorrow night (Saturday).
The event outside the Apple Tree, starts at 6pm and follows the Wey Hill Christmas Market, between 10am and 4pm.
To go with the traditional carols, there will be a range of refreshments on sale, including a hog roast, mulled wine, champagne, mine pies and more.
Organiser Sahran Abeysundara, Haslemere Deputy Mayor, has appealed for volunteers to help set up the event.
He said: “We need a team on Friday evening to set up gazebos, staging and barriers – to keep people safely off the road – and then to take everything down after the carols finish on Saturday around 7pm.
“We need stewards, who will be equipped with high-vis jackets and radios, to keep people safe. And we need marshals to be part of a ‘walking bus’ or a ferry service so residents of local care and retirement homes can get safely to and from the event.”
If you are able to volunteer – or would like to make some other contribution to the event call 01428 288313.
