ST Nicholas’ School in Church Crookham held its annual senior school service of lessons and carols on Thursday, December 10, in the Pritchard Hall.
In addition to the traditional readings and prayers, the senior chamber orchestra performed the Pastorale from the Christmas Oratorio by JS Bach and the chamber choir gave performances of O Holy Night by Adolphe Adams and In the Bleak Midwinter by Harold Darke.
The entire senior school performed John Rutter’s Angels’ Carol and the senior choir continued this joyful theme with a performance of In Dulci Jubilo arranged by Robert Pearsall and Adam Lay Y-bounden by Boris Ord.
The service was brought to an uplifting conclusion by the swing band who performed arrangements of We Three Kings and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.
St Nicholas’ strings also performed for local residential homes for the elderly on Friday, December 11.
