THE annual Seale and Sands Summer Show will take place at The Sands Recreation Ground, Littleworth Road on Saturday, July 2, at 1.30pm. The theme this year is a rather fun ‘Carry On Shakespeare’ - celebrating 400 years since the passing of the poet and playwright. A warm welcome is extended to everyone to join the merriment and watch the superb events which this year see many attractions, including traditional Morris dancing, Dog Disorder, sheep racing and the epic Battle of Shakespeare - flour, water and some messy children! Entry is free with a suggested donation of £1 for parking on the field.
The marquee will again look amazing, filled with the entries into the many classes and showing-off the imaginative talents of the locals - stunning flowers, delicious home bakes and tasty treats, creative crafts and the children’s artistic offerings. There is always a nervous wait to see who has been awarded a prize by the expert judges.
The Farnham Archers make a welcome return along with a penalty shoot-out, classic car display, parachuting teddies and a petting farm where visitors can have a cuddle with some fluffy farm animals. There is plenty going on all afternoon to entertain all ages. There will be a well-stocked bar and Pimms tent and food stalls and ice creams to keep everybody fuelled. After tea and cake at the WI tent visitors can carry on around the stalls - plants, games, fresh produce, arts and crafts and face painting among the many - lots to tempt and treat yourself to.
Merrymaking continues into the evening. ‘Carry on Shakespeare’ gives plenty of opportunity for the fancy dress - witches, fairies, kings, star crossed lovers, maybe even a donkey!
There will be an indulgent feast and a live band will get everyone up and dance the night away. For all the information about the show and the evening event visit the web site: www.sealeandsands.org.
