POLICE are warning elderly people to be on their guard after a distraction con in Farnham.

An elderly woman who was pushing her shopping trolley back home from Waitrose on January 18 was stopped by a man and woman asking for directions to London.

The man placed a map over the trolley which contained her food shopping and handbag.

The victim began to feel uncomfortable, said she didn't want to help them and walked into her house, but when she checked her bag she realised that cash and bank cards had been taken from her purse. It was later reported that someone had used the bank cards to withdraw money.
