AN extra £9,000 has been secured to help pay for vital repairs at the Bordon and Oakhanger Sports Club.

Whitehill Town Council agreed on Monday to give the Bolley Avenue club the funding to help towards a £36,000 project to carry out essential repairs and improvements.

It follows £1,000 which the town council has already given to BOSC and a £25,000 grant from East Hampshire District CouncilÕs community initiatives fund.

The scheme involves the clubÕs connection to mains drainage and new water supply, new cladding to the clubhouse roof, bringing electrical services up to required standard, improvements to lighting in the squash courts, provision of disabled usersÕ facilities and improvements to heating facilities.

The club, which has around 1,118 playing members, applied for a £10,000 grant from the town council in May this year but as the council had not allowed for the money in its precept it was only able to give £1,000.

MondayÕs request was for the remainder of its original grant application.
