THE Whitehill and Bordon Community Association is a step closer to having CCTV in place, thanks to a £2,500 grant from the Hampshire Police Authority. The building has been a target for disorder, and criminal damage throughout the years. Damage to the building is often focused around the car parks, but incidents have also occured at the shopping centre. The CCTV system will oversee the link between Forest Centre and the shopping centre which lies adjacent to it. Peter Kent Mason, chairman of Hampshire Police Authority's crime prevention committee that awarded the grants, said: "CCTV has a good track record in deterring senseless damage and disorder. "I hope these grants will help make these community centres safer and more secure places for all those who use them." The committee meeting took place last Wednesday. The committee granted a total of £26,557 between 10 initiatives to help prevent crime across the region.
