A LEVEL results at Alton College have surpassed all expectation this summer with a pass rate of 98 per cent and a record breaking 100 per cent pass in nearly two thirds of the subjects offered.

ÒThey are also much to the credit of the schools from which they came on to us, including Amery Hill, EggarÕs, Alton Convent, Bohunt, Mill Chase, Petersfield and Perins at Alresford.Ó
The college is particularly proud that its results, year after year, are significantly higher than the national average.
Nationally there has been concern about mathematics but at Alton it remains very strong and with an entry of 115 students this summer at A level, one of the biggest subjects. ÒForty six per cent of our A level mathematicians scored a grade A pass, and the overall pass rate in this important subject was 97 per centÓ said Mr Gray.
Other subjects which saw particularly strong performances included English Literature and history where 75 per cent gained the highest grades of A and B.
Philip Cane, who gained five A levels, four at grade A, was placed in the national top five out of over 14,000 candidates, for his performance in A level Information and Communication Technology.
