WITH summer approaching, a district business is giving shoppers the chance to "meet the maker" of some of the outdoor products they will see as they browse around.
Visitors will be able to find out all about making skin care products, how to use outdoor ovens, basket making and jewellery making at Moutan Garden at Newlyns Farm Shop on Saturday, July 9, from 10am–2pm.
A series of workshops with five business owners will begin with Simon and Caroline Cavill showing off their award–winning skin care products. Beekeeper Simon and his wife Caroline started their business Bee Good in 2008, making lip balm and hand cream in their own kitchen.
Next comes Jay Larson, a local designer and owner of the Garden Oven Company. Jay will be preparing delicious treats – such as pizza – to show how well his oven works.
Surrey–based basket maker, Judith Needham, will demonstrate the versatility of her craft, with items like a willow playhouse, and dens for all ages. The summer hide–outs make a change from hammocks and plastic playhouses.
Then jewellery designer Victoria Flower will talk visitors through the process of making her silver and gold pieces. They are inspired by woodland and meadow habitats.
All of the workshops will be free.
