A community and youth centre in north Farnham is searching for a new manager.

Whoever takes the reins at Hale Community and Youth Centre will have big shoes to fill as current boss, Melissa Salisbury, is leaving after three years in the role.

The Hale Road centre, which is home to a wide range of activities, services and community projects, supports local residents of all ages and has been the Mayor of Farnham’s charity for his year in office.

Its Youth Centre is a flagship part of its identity, providing clubs and workshops for young people and offering a safe and supportive space for them.

The centre works in partnership with other organisations, has a thriving community fridge and cupboard, and offers meals, drop-in spaces and opportunities for people to get involved with projects to build friendships, skills, networks and confidence.

The new centre manager will oversee the day‑to‑day running of the building, support staff and volunteers, will build partnerships, lead fundraising and income generation, and help to shape the future development of the centre and its youth centre.

Dr John Lews, chair of the centre’s trustees, said: “Hale Community and Youth Centre is a special place at the heart of our community.

“We’re looking for someone who shares our values and passion for supporting local people, and who can help us continue to grow and thrive.”

The role is full‑time with flexible working available, and offers a salary in the range of £38,000 to £42,000, depending on experience.

The full job description and the person specification are both available on the centre’s website. Applicants are invited to submit a CV and covering letter, outlining their suitability for the role.

The plan is to recruit someone in time to do a handover at the beginning of June.
