WAVERLEY Borough Council will be issuing a postcard to 44,000 residents whose refuse, recycling and food waste collection day will be changing from Monday, July 6.

The changes, which are being made to create a more efficient service, form the second phase of a ‘route optimisation programme’ implemented when Biffa took over the contract in 2019.

If residents haven’t received a postcard by June 26, the changes are not going to affect their collection days.

There will be no changes to garden waste collection days for those who subscribe to the service.

Councillor Steve Williams, portfolio holder for environment at Waverley Borough Council, said: “We would urge residents to watch out for the postcard dropping on to their doormat in the middle of June and to make a note of their new collection days.

“The changes, which won’t affect all, are the result of us working closely with Biffa to review the routes and work towards providing a better and more efficient waste collection service for our residents, including the kerbside collections of small electrical appliances and textiles, as a further improvement to the service which will follow in due course.”

Cllr Williams has also thanked residents for the “patience and consideration they have shown our bin crews, who have been working so hard during the coronavirus pandemic”.
