CHARGES will rise by an above-inflation average of 3.7 per cent at Farnham Leisure Centre on February 1, including increases to swimming, gym and membership fees.

As of next month, swimming charges will increase 20p (4.4 per cent) to £4.80 for adults, 10p (2.8 per cent) to £3.70 for both senior citizens and juniors, and £1 (3.6 per cent) to £29 per month for a swimming-only membership.

Casual gym fees will rise by a modest 10p (1.1 per cent) to £9.20 in peak-time and 10p (1.2 per cent) to £8.20 off-peak for adults, but a hefty 20p (4.6 per cent) to £4.60 for seniors and 30p (7.3 per cent) for juniors.

‘All site’ membership fees will also increase by £1 for both adults and juniors, representing a 2.3 per cent and five per cent hike to £45 and £21 per month respectively.

The largest single percentage increase will see the price of a ‘shower only’ at the leisure centre rise from £3 to £4 (33 per cent), while the only charge to drop is for a replacement membership card, falling 10p to £2.50.

A spokesman for Waverley Borough Council said: “The annual review of charges for services at the borough’s five leisure centres has taken place. In most cases there has been a small increase in charges of between one and five per cent.

“The new charges will come into affect on February 1, 2018; members and hirers of the leisure centres have either been emailed or written to advising them of the changes. The core prices are also on display in the centres.”
