THE Samfest music festival at Tongham in August was one of few charity-driven music festivals in the area giving all of its profits to charity.

Attracting an audience of more than 2,500 people, the festival raised £13,100. Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice picked up 80 per cent of the cash and the rest was split among myriad good causes.

Beneficiaries were Tongham Scouts, Tongham Village Hall, Tongham Cricket Club, Tongham Football Club, Tongham Woods, Tongham Toddlers Group, Tongham Youth Football Club, St Pauls Church, and St John's Ambulance.
