ST Mary’s Church in Frensham held a special service celebrating charities that they have supported over recent years.

Throughout the past 34 years the trust has made 498 donations to more than 160 charities, which were nominated by the parishioners of Frensham and Dockenfield, totalling more that £61,000.

Charities represented at the service were Conquest Art; The Vine (homeless charity); Make a Wish Foundation; Home Start Waverley; Singarche School, in Nepal; St Mary’s Frensham Trust trustees – past and present; and Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.

Helping to present on the day was the daughter, Felicity Garrard, and stepson Christopher Rook Blackstone) of Billy Blackstone, the parishioner whose legacy set up the St Mary’s Frensham Trust fund in 1982.

Peter James, one of the trustees, gave a talk about the history of the trust, which was followed by refreshments in the church hall.
