A HIGH Street bank has turned its back on years of tradition by banning charities from setting up stalls outside its Petersfield branch at a key time of the day.

Good causes have been told they are no longer allowed to erect a stall on the forecourt outside Lloyds TSB on Saturday mornings.

Bosses claim many customers are still unaware they are open for business on Saturday because of the many tables outside their premises.

The bank is open to negotiation and has stressed that stallholders are welcome to use the space free of charge after 1pm.

But the changes have upset many charity workers, as they believe the decision is impractical and is robbing them off vital funds.
