A SHORTFALL in funding has led to one of the town's leading charities appealing for more help to ensure its long-term future.

The Rosemary Foundation, based in Lavant Street, which cares for people in their own homes in the latter stages of their lives, has £30,000 less in the bank than this time last year.

With volunteers the life blood of the worthy cause, it is hoping to make up the shortfall this year while appealing for more fundraising events and extra volunteers to help ensure a brighter future for the indispensable work of its compassionate district-wide Hospice at Home service.

The charity's team of nurses care for cancer sufferers and people with other life-threatening illnesses.

"We are not about to disappear but it would be nice to build that up again along with some the reassurance for the future and continuity," said Julie Cotsell.
