CARE in Haslemere was delighted to receive a model Hoppa bus, complete with exact and intricate livery, as a thank-you present for many years of loyal support.
Waverley Hoppa community transport manager Steve Forward made the presentation to Care president Mary Holthouse, who was accompanied by treasurer Jerry Ogilvie and chairman Grahame Randall.
Mr Randall said: “The gift is part of Hoppa’s 15th anniversary celebrations and has been awarded to Care for its support of the Hospital Hoppa service since it began.
“Care contributed to the purchase of the original Hospital Hoppa, and has continued to support the community transport charity financially since.
“The model will have pride of place in our office in the Haslemere Methodist Church.”
“Care in Haslemere is a local neighbourly help charity whose volunteers, using their own cars, take people to important appointments, mainly to hospitals and clinics, and its work dovetails in well with the service the Hospital Hoppa provides.”
The town charity was launched in 1978 and now comprises a 60-strong band of volunteers.
Last year, its team of trained drivers carried out 1,500 trips, covering about 27,000 miles. New volunteers are welcomed, for more information log on to: www.carein haslemere.org.uk
