YOUNG patients at Frimley Park Hospital were able to enjoy the spirit of Christmas, thanks to the generosity of the local community.

Pantomime performers, soldiers, players from Aldershot Town FC and rugby stars were among those bringing festive cheer to youngsters on the children’s ward in the run up to the big day.

Many came bearing gifts such as toys, DVDs or sweet treats, and Santa himself even made a virtual visit from the North Pole via live video link courtesy of Cisco’s Connected Santa programme.

Lois Doel, matron for paediatrics, said: “A stay in hospital can be difficult for children and their relatives at any time of the year, and especially at Christmas.

“We are grateful to our wonderful visitors who once again have helped to make it a little more bearable for our young patients who are unable to be at home with their families at this special time.”
