IT WAS beer galore at The Phoenix Theatre and Arts Centre when around 20 brewers made their way to the sixth annual beer festival.

Hailed a “success” by organisers, more than 200 people went along to the event on Saturday (September 28) and had the chance to try beers and ciders from across the country, including a Bakewell tart cider!

Live music kept visitors entertained, with singer-songwriter Leila Ajamay opening the festival, local band The Burning Glass headlining the afternoon session and 19Eighties headlining the evening.

And for families, a mini ‘Gamesfest’ was held with a selection of board games available for all ages.

Rob Allerston, director of the Bordon theatre, said they received feedback from the Campaign for Real Ale about the “diversity of beer” at the festival and added: “Yes, it’s about beer and, yes, it’s about enjoying the drink, but there was a great vibe.

“I wish I had £1 for every smile I saw at the beer festival.”

Rob also confirmed a date has already been set for next year’s event – Saturday, September 26, 2020.
