THE National Childbirth Trust (NCT) Farnham and Aldershot branch is looking for enthusiastic people to join its team of volunteers.
NCT is the UK’s largest parent charity and each year it supports millions of new mothers and fathers through their first 1,000 days as parents.
There are a wide range of activities that volunteers can help with from making tea at local events or organising NCT Nearly New Sales to becoming a treasurer or newsletter editor.
Sam Gilliard, NCT Farnham and Aldershot Branch co-ordinator, said: “We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers who are passionate about making a difference to parents locally.
“Volunteering provides an excellent opportunity to use and develop your skills and experience but most importantly it is a great way of making friends and having fun.
“Helping parents will give you a sense of satisfaction for your efforts - and you’ll gain some useful voluntary work experience to add to your CV.”
A volunteer for the last seven years in Farnham and Aldershot, Claire Waters-Duke added: “When I first gave up my job to look after my children the thought of not working was quite a daunting prospect.
“Once I decided to volunteer for my local NCT, I really enjoyed being a stay-at-home mum as it gave me the opportunity to continue working in my own time while meeting new friends. I was also able to find lots of bargains at NCT’s excellent Nearly New Sales.”
NCT volunteering is open to all and it welcomes people from different backgrounds. Volunteers do not need to be parents or women to make a difference to local mums and dads. Find out more online at nct.org.uk.
