CHILDREN, parents and staff were delighted to welcome Lord Sebastian Coe to The Pilgrims' Way School last week.

Lord Coe visited each class before giving a talk about the importance of every individual reaching their full potential.

The children then asked questions about his running career and his Olympic medals, his time as an MP and the London 2012 Olympics.

Lord Coe posed for photographs with the children who were nominated Ambassadors in the spring term – a highly coveted end-of-term award for two to three children from each class who have been outstanding role models for others in terms of their learning attitudes and behaviours.

Archie, the youngest, and Kane, the eldest pupil, presented Lord Coe with 'The Pilgrims' Way Book of Values' in which each class had chosen and written about their most important value.

Headteacher Elaine Viner said: "This visit from Lord Coe to The Pilgrims' Way School has inspired everyone to continue to reach for the skies. There really are no barriers to achievement if you arm yourself with a positive attitude and a 'can do' mindset."
