CUBS from 1st Petersfield have celebrated the Chinese New Year.

Meeting at the Scout headquarters on Heath Road, the youngsters learned about the Chinese calendar and its 12 animals.

With 2011 being the year of the rabbit, the Cubs checked out the animals which matched the year in which they were born.

"During the evening they each made a dancing dragon which is a symbol of good luck in Chinese culture," said Cub scout leader Melanie Robinson. "They also tried using chopsticks and had a go at writing some Chinese characters."
