THANKS to the powerful voices of five local choirs Melanoma UK has benefited from £848, received from the collection of donations at the end of this year’s Festival of Song.
The show featured five community choirs giving stand-alone performances and as combined choirs, concluding with all 208 singers on stage singing Let The River Run.
The Mayor of Farnham, Mike Hodge, and the Mayor of Rushmoor, Sophia Choudray, were in attendance throughout the concert staged at the Princes Hall, Aldershot, on Sunday, July 2..
Catherine Johnson chair of Voices Together Community Choir, said: “I would like to thank my dedicated festival committee for collaborating to bring everyone this wonderful evening, and Farnham Town Council and Farnham Institute Charity for grants and donations.
“Grateful thanks go to Jonathan Jones, the Farnham Town Crier. for agreeing to compere this unique evening of song.
“Also, all the participants, who had been rehearsing for weeks, and our musical director, Valerie Hoppé, who planted a very small seed 18 months ago that has blossomed into Festival of Song.
“Many of us don’t read music, but we just love singing, so do pop along to a rehearsal where you can be assured of a warm welcome.”
Choirs performing on the night included Voices Together Community Choir; The Rushmoor Choir; Carillon Singers; Rowledge Community Choir; and Farnham Music and Drama Singers.
