IT’S that time of year when children go back to school, move on to college or take the step up to university to continue their education.

It’s also time to resume choir practice as Alton Choral Society’s new season will begin next Wednesday, September 7, at 7.45pm in the Salvation Army Hall rehearsal room (opposite Market Square).

“Practice continues each week at the same time in the same venue and anyone can come along. No audition is needed, just the ability to sing in tune and learn a part,” said Society spokesman Jane Lewis.

“Please do join us. Ladies and gentlemen able to sing their higher notes (soprano and tenor respectively) will be particularly appreciated.”
