FOLLOWING the retirement of the council handyman, Whitehill councillors, at a meeting last Monday, admitted that litter picking in Whitehill and Bordon had been “reduced” with some of the councillors doing the job.

So it was with “a very big welcome” that the town council announced, at its amenities committee meeting, the appointment of its new grounds officer Chris Norkett, who will be responsible, once a week, for litter picking all sites and emptying the four council bins.

Committee chairman Chris Mitchell welcomed Mr Norkett and said: “I hope you will work with us and we will work with you and continue doing everything we can to improve things for residents.”

Roger Russell, Duncan Sanders, Alan Waterhouse and Lesley Webber were thanked for acting as temporary litter pickers.
