ABOUT 180 people joined the silent walk of witness around Farnham at noon on Good Friday, marking the first hour of Jesus’ crucifixion.

Prayers at the start of the walk were led by Reverend Conrad Hicks of Farnham Methodist Church, and prayers at the end, in St Andrew’s churchyard, were led by Pastor Michael Hall of Farnham Pentecostal Church.

The walk was organised by Stewart Dakers on behalf of Churches Together in Farnham, as on many previous years, with a team of willing helpers but now no police support.

The cross at the head of the procession was carried by Robert Thain and Richard Haines, lay minister and churchwarden respectively, from St Andrew’s Church.

At the concluding prayers Pastor Hall had everyone who had gathered round the cross turn and face outwards, and pray to be of service to the community around them – in this way attempting to follow the example of Jesus himself.
