There will be meals on Christmas wheels for people living alone on December 25.
Farnham couple Hannah and Ollie Jackson will be busy overnight on December 23 cooking and boxing up roast dinners for people who will be spending Christmas Day on their own.
They would like to provide the service to others who are alone and are asking people to get in touch either with names and addresses or offers of help.
Hannah said: “We cook the dinners overnight on the 23rd because we want to get them out early on Christmas Eve as we have two children and we want to spend time with them.
“We usually provide 25-30 dinners and if anyone knows someone who would like one please would they get in touch with me? I just need the address and then we can deliver.”
This is the third year they have run the scheme, though they are no strangers to providing meals for others – whenever they visit Hannah’s father in South Africa they prepare and distribute around 100 meals every day for homeless people near his home in Cape Town.
The Christmas lunch idea was inspired by Hannah’s grandfather.
“During Covid my granddad was on his own so we made him a Christmas lunch and took it over,” said Hannah.
“Then we thought we could do it for others. This year some businesses have helped us. Farnham Family Butchers on Downing Street have given us the meat and Steve’s Quality Fruit and Veg have provided the vegetables which is wonderful.
“Members of Badshot Lea Predators, our son’s U8 football team, are delivering some of the meals and some of the parents are decorating their cars as part of this.”
Anyone who would like to help Hannah and Ollie or who would like a meal delivered to someone on Christmas Day is asked to text Hannah on 07854 141890.
