THE Alton Round Table Christmas float will start spreading festive cheer on Sunday. A part of Alton's Christmas calendar, Father Christmas will visit as many households as possible, carried aboard a sleigh of sparkling lights and bringing with him a riot of seasonal music. He will be accompanied by a band of Tablers, collecting for local charities. His first port of call on Sunday will be the Ridgeway, starting from 4.30pm at Moorlands Close and ending at Fontwell Drive. The round will continue as follows: l Monday – the Ridgeway (6.30pm) from Goodwood Close and continuing on to Borovere Lane, Calendar Close, Archery Rise, Vicarage Road, Tower Street, Old Acre Road, Mount Pleasant Road, New Barn Lane and Stillions l Tuesday – Highridge (6.30pm) including Princess Drive, Kings Road, Queens Road, Kingsland Road, Langham Road, Ackender Road, Westbrooke Road, Lenten Street, Amery Hill and Tannery Lane. l Wednesday – Holybourne (6.30pm) l Thursday – Chawton Park Road (6.30pm), the Beechwood Road area, Whitedown Lane, Bolle Road, Butts Road, Albert Road, the Whitedown estate, Borovere Gardens and Lincoln Green. l Friday (December 7) – Ashdell Road (6.30pm), continuing on to Crowley Driver, Huntsmead, Curtis Road, Spicers and Vaughans before going on to visit Treloars Heights. l Saturday (December 8) – Church Street (4.30pm), St Lawrence Road, Spitalfields, Chauntsingers, Victoria Road, Littlefield Road, the Orchard Lane area, Adams Way, Eggars Close and Shipley close. l Sunday (December 9) – the Southview Rise area (4.30pm) l Monday (December 10) – Greenfields Avenue Estate (6.30pm) ending up on the New Odiham Road. l Tuesday (December 11) – Manor Estate (6.30pm), Anstey Lane, Geales Crescent, Allen Close and Spencer Road. l Wednesday (December 12) – Wooteys Estate (6.30pm) and the Gilbert White Way cul de sacs. l Thursday (December 13) – Linnets Way (6.30pm), Lispcombe Rise, Pound Gate, Plovers Way, Dowden Grove, Edward Road, Lansdowne Road, Park Close Road, Alexandra Road, Nursery Road and ending up in Normandy Street. Alton Round Table chairman Scott Wright has thanked Mike Garwood Ltd for the loan of the tractor, Vincent Hire for the loan of a generator, DSH Hire for the PA system, and Hampshire Commercials for the use of its car park.
