IT was more like a summer's day than just over five weeks to the festive season as the town's Christmas tree took its rightful place in The Square this week.
The grand example of arbicultural elegance was hoisted into place ready for tonight's Christmas lights switch-on and Children in Need Night festivities.
The switching on of the town's festive lights takes place at 7pm when Petersfield MP Damian Hinds and mayor Mary Vincent herald the start of a fun-filled festival in the run-up to Christmas.
It will also be a night for raising funds for the annual BBC Children in Need Appeal and will feature a host of entertainment from singers and bands.
